Junior Lecturer: Management Accounting and Finance at Milparkeducationlive
Application close date: 08 July 2026
The Position
The position falls within the Postgraduate Department of the School of Professional Accounting (formerly known as CA Connect). The appointee will join the Management Accounting and Finance subject team.
The subject team is responsible for all aspects of delivering Management Accounting and Finance in the SAICA-accredited Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (“PGDA”, CTA equivalent) and Bridging course.
All staff in the department work remotely and therefore, applications from anywhere in South Africa will be accepted.
Some important aspects to take note of, given that our working environment differs from a standard educational institution in a number of ways:
1. Research expectation
This role, along with all our current permanent academic positions, does not carry with it an expectation for the performance of any formal research. Learning and reflecting is an important part of our values, and we seek to apply best practice in all that we do. However, our focus is not on formal research output and, as such, our systems and processes are not designed to either support or reward individuals committed to traditional research.
2. After-hours availability
Our programmes are designed to be flexible and accommodate students who find themselves in a wide range of circumstances, specifically including working students. As a result, we offer synchronous, online live sessions to our students after-hours on a weekly basis – these occur between 5:30pm and 6:30pm on weeknights (specifically Monday, Wednesday and Thursday for MACF). Online live sessions only occur during “teaching" weeks and are a maximum of 3 hours per week within these time slots, allocated between team members. Additionally, academic staff members are expected to be available for after-hours online, one-on-one consultations with students for a few (predetermined and allocated between team members) hours each week, either in the evenings and/or early in the mornings, outside of working hours. (This after-hours time is included within the normal working hours expected of this position.)
3. Remote working and travel expectations
Our team works entirely online, as our courses are completely online. Therefore, all members of staff are expected to have a stable and reliable source of access to the internet, a backup plan in case of loadshedding and a suitable home office environment. (IT equipment, including a laptop, screen and other essentials will be provided by Milpark.)
Additionally, the team gathers in person in Cape Town roughly 4 times per year and so members of staff located elsewhere in the country are expected to travel to Cape Town for those meetings, which may require up to two nights away at a time. (The cost of this travel is covered by Milpark.)
