Data Scientist at Statsports

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent Desired Start Date: August 2026 Location: Both hybrid and remote opportunities with travel for business/project needs About STATSports: What if the product you helped to build next week was worn by an elite athlete the week after? The opportunity: This role is ideal for a candidate who has experience developing and deploying machine learning solutions in production environments and enjoys transforming complex datasets into impactful products. You will play a key role in shaping how we leverage data from our GPS and IMU technologies, delivering insights and capabilities that directly influence athlete performance and decision-making.

What You Will Be Doing: Developing and deploying machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions using data from our GPS and IMU sensor technologies Designing, building, and maintaining ETL workflows to support data ingestion, transformation, and analysis at scale Analysing large Electronic Player Tracking System (EPTS) datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights Conducting experiments and validating models to ensure they meet performance and quality standards Monitoring, evaluating, and refining models to improve accuracy, reliability, and efficiency over time Collaborating with software engineers, product owners, and stakeholders to integrate data-driven solutions into our products Staying current with advancements in data science, machine learning, AI, and related technologies to drive innovation across the business What We Are Looking For: Degree or equivalent experience in Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field Strong proficiency in Python Experience working with relational databases and technologies such as SQL and MySQL Familiarity with ETL processes and data pipeline development Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience working with large and complex datasets Experience in retrieving, analysing, and visualising data from cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams Nice to Have (But Not Essential): Experience using data visualisation tools such as Tableau or Power BI Experience working with sports performance data or Electronic Player Tracking Systems (EPTS) Familiarity with modern machine learning operations (MLOps) practices Knowledge of time-series analysis, sensor data processing, or predictive analytics What's In It for You: A hands-on role where your work directly influences products used in elite sport Exposure to the full software lifecycle, from data ingestion and experimentation through to production deployment Collaboration with engineers, product owners, and data specialists in a supportive, high-performance team The chance to see your work applied to real-world athlete performance and decision-making Equal opportunity employer: STATSports is an equal opportunity employer.
