Job description

Director Global Logistics at Dwyer Instruments Inc

About the role

This is a strategic leadership role for someone who thinks in networks and acts with urgency. You will build the master logistics plan, lead a high-performing global team, and drive the three pillars that define our logistics ambition: an optimized Network Design that simplifies our footprint and shortens lead times; a Resilience framework that keeps us shipping through disruption; and a Sustainability agenda that aligns our transportation choices with DwyerOmega’s corporate ESG commitments. You will also serve as DwyerOmega’s primary logistics voice on customs and trade compliance & working closely with Legal and Trade Compliance to keep the business moving safely across borders.

What you'll do

Network Design and Optimization

Build and own the global master shipping plan across plants, distribution centers, and customers ensuring on-time delivery, shorter lead times, and a simpler logistics footprint. Lead direct ship versus DC handled SKU segmentation decisions, balancing service, cost, and inventory tradeoffs across the network. Drive lane and carrier rationalization initiatives to reduce network complexity, eliminate redundancy, and lower total logistics cost. Design and implement network strategies that support regional growth in NA, EMEA, and APAC. Partner with Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain Planning to translate demand and inventory strategies into logistics network requirements. Establish and govern freight spend analytics and network performance reporting to enable data-driven optimization decisions. Logistics Resilience and Risk Management

Stand up and maintain contingency playbooks that keep DwyerOmega shipping through disruptions including port strikes, natural disasters, geopolitical events, and carrier failures. Implement multi-source carrier and lane redundancy strategies to eliminate single points of failure across critical trade lanes. Define and maintain risk tiered safety stock positioning at critical logistics nodes to buffer against supply chain shocks. Lead scenario planning and logistics stress testing exercises to identify vulnerabilities and validate response readiness. Monitor global logistics risk signals and translate intelligence into proactive action rerouting, mode shifts, or pre-positioning inventory ahead of disruption. Build and maintain relationships with strategic carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure priority access during constrained market conditions. Sustainable Logistics and ESG Alignment

Develop and execute a global logistics sustainability roadmap aligned to DwyerOmega’s corporate ESG objectives and reporting commitments. Lead modal shift initiatives to lower emission transport options where operationally viable, including intermodal, rail, and sea-air conversions. Embed ESG performance criteria into carrier selection, RFP evaluation, and contract terms. Build emissions tracking and reporting capability by lane and shipment, enabling accurate Scope 3 carbon accounting. Partner with Procurement, Finance, and Corporate Sustainability teams to set logistics emissions targets and report progress to leadership. Identify and pilot emerging green logistics technologies and programs that position DwyerOmega ahead of regulatory and customer expectations. Customs and Trade Compliance

Own the logistics function’s accountability for customs compliance, import/export controls, and cross-border regulatory requirements across all regions DwyerOmega operates in. Serve as the primary logistics partner to the Trade Compliance and Legal teams, ensuring logistics practices, carrier contracts, and documentation standards align with global trade. Oversee the classification, valuation, and documentation of goods across all international shipments, working with Trade Compliance to maintain accurate HTS codes, country of origin declarations, and duty management records. Ensure freight forwarder, customs broker, and third-party logistics provider compliance with DwyerOmega’s trade compliance policies and applicable regulations, including export controls and sanctions screening. Monitor changes in tariff structures, trade agreements, and import/export regulations across key markets translating regulatory developments into actionable logistics and cost for the business. Lead preparation and response for customs audits, trade compliance reviews, and regulatory inquiries in partnership with Legal and Trade Compliance. Drive continuous improvement in trade compliance processes, documentation accuracy, and broker performance to reduce duty exposure, clearance delays, and regulatory risk. Carrier Management and Freight Procurement

Lead global freight procurement, including RFPs, carrier negotiations, and contract management across all modes such as parcel, LTL, FTL, air, and ocean. Develop and maintain a preferred carrier program with clear performance standards, KPIs, and consequences for non-delivery. Monitor carrier performance against on-time, cost, claims, and sustainability metrics, driving accountability through structured business reviews. Manage freight spending within budget, identifying and delivering cost reduction opportunities without compromising service. Ensure all carrier and broker agreements include trade compliance obligations and are reviewed in alignment with Legal and Trade Compliance requirements. Logistics Operations and Team Leadership

Lead a global logistics team across NA, EMEA, and APAC, setting clear direction, developing capability, and building a high-performance culture. Oversee day-to-day logistics operations including order fulfilment, outbound shipping, inbound freight, and returns management. Establish logistics KPIs and scorecards covering on-time delivery, freight cost per unit, claims rates, and transit time performance. Partner with Warehouse and Distribution Centre teams to ensure seamless handoffs between storage and transportation operations. Drive the adoption of logistics technology including TMS, visibility platforms, and automation to improve execution and reporting capability. Cross-Functional and Executive Collaboration

Serve as the global logistics authority within the Supply Chain leadership team, influencing strategy and investment decisions. Partner with SIOP, Materials, and Operations leaders to ensure logistics plans are integrated into the broader supply chain cycle. Maintain a close and proactive working relationship with Trade Compliance and Legal teams ensuring logistics strategies, contracts, and operations remain fully aligned with DwyerOmega’s regulatory and legal obligations. Engage Legal and Trade Compliance early on new market entries, carrier arrangements, or logistics structures that carry cross-border regulatory implications. Present logistics performance, risk landscape, and strategic initiatives including trade compliance exposure clearly to senior leadership and the executive team. Collaborate with Finance to manage freight budgets, duty costs, accruals, and cost variance reporting with rigor and transparency. Represent DwyerOmega in key carriers, industry, and regulatory forums relevant to global logistics and trade strategy.
