ABFE: A Philanthropic Partnership for Black Communities is the nation's oldest and largest philanthropic membership organization devoted to Black communities. Founded in 1971 as the Association of Black Foundation Executives, ABFE has spent over five decades advancing responsive and transformative philanthropy in Black communities. As a membership-based, nonprofit, philanthropic-serving organization, ABFE advocates for stronger, more effective investment in Black communities and combats anti-Black racism while advancing Black well-being, joy, and brilliance.

The organization serves as a convener and thought leader in the philanthropy sector, hosting the Harambee Conference - the largest gathering of Black professionals in organized philanthropy. ABFE membership is open to philanthropic professionals, nonprofit leaders, individual donors, and sector partners committed to the advancement of Black communities. Through initiatives like the Racial Equity Advancement and Defense Initiative (READI), ABFE promotes, expands, and defends race-explicit grantmaking and programming, ensuring racial equity remains at the forefront of philanthropic work.
