ALSAR maintains a team of highly trained professionals certified in First Aid, CPR, FEMA NIMS IS 100, 200, 700, and SARTECH 3 standards. Team leaders hold advanced SARTECH 2 and Wilderness First Responder certifications. The organization operates around the clock, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, ensuring immediate response capability for emergency situations throughout Alabama.

All members hold certifications from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the National Association for Search and Rescue. Their Bloodhound K9 trailing teams utilize scent discrimination techniques to track specific individuals, regardless of weather conditions or time of day. ALSAR operates an Incident Command Truck and maintains stations across the state, with active members required to live within 30 minutes of their assigned station.
