We are California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing organic agriculture for a healthy world. Our journey began in 1973, when a small group of 54 visionary farmers came together to define organic standards and certify fellow growers. We were founded by farmers, for farmers, with a deep-seated commitment to strengthening American agriculture. For over half a century, we've been rooted in the soil of small, independent farms, tirelessly supporting the hardworking families who cultivate our food with integrity—free from synthetic chemicals and unnecessary processing. What started as a grassroots effort in California has blossomed into an internationally recognized organization with roots spanning North America. We are proud to be supported by a diverse family of farmers, ranchers, processors, retailers, consumers, and policymakers who all share our vision.

Our mission is carried out through three distinct yet interconnected branches: CCOF, Inc., CCOF Certification Services, LLC, and the CCOF Foundation. CCOF, Inc. is our member-driven trade association, advocating for organic policies and supporting the growth of the organic market. CCOF Certification Services is our USDA-accredited certification agency, ensuring the integrity of organic products from farm to fork. We provide personal and accessible certification for farms, livestock operations, processors, retailers, and restaurants. The CCOF Foundation is the heart of our educational and philanthropic efforts. It invests in the next generation of organic professionals through scholarships and grants, provides financial assistance to farmers facing hardship, and works to deepen consumer understanding of the myriad benefits of organic agriculture. Together, these three entities work in concert to achieve our ultimate goal: to create a world where organic is the norm.
