EducationSuperHighway is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to close America's K-12 literacy gap. Founded in 2012 by serial entrepreneur Evan Marwell, the organization began by tackling the digital divide in public schools when Marwell discovered his daughter's elementary school had only one shared cable modem for 500 students. The team believes that every child deserves the opportunity to become a confident and fluent reader, and that closing the literacy gap requires targeted, evidence-based intervention.

Today, as a Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO), EducationSuperHighway provides literacy tutoring scholarships to first-grade students reading below grade level, funding 1:1 virtual tutoring grounded in the Science of Reading. Just 15 minutes of daily tutoring can unlock a child's potential, and the organization has proven that focused intervention in first grade creates lasting success - 85% of students who read at grade level by end of first grade stay on track through third grade. The team operates with a data-driven, mission-focused mindset, having previously achieved the extraordinary goal of connecting 99.3% of America's public schools to high-speed broadband and helping 5 million low-income households get online. Now they're turning those connections into opportunity, one first grader at a time.
