We are FIRST®, a global robotics community that is dedicated to preparing young people for the future. Founded in 1989 by the inventor Dean Kamen, we are a nonprofit organization with the mission to inspire the next generation of science and technology leaders and innovators. Our suite of life-changing youth robotics programs is designed to build not just skills in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), but also to foster self-confidence, communication, and leadership. We believe in making STEM education accessible, inclusive, and, most importantly, fun. Through our project-based, hands-on programs, students are immersed in creative learning environments where they work together to solve exciting robotics challenges. Participants are guided by our fundamental Core Values, which emphasize teamwork, discovery, and impact, encouraging them to build a better future for themselves and their communities.

Our programs cater to a wide range of age groups, from PreK all the way to grade 12. This includes FIRST® LEGO® League, which introduces younger students to the fundamentals of STEM through engaging, hands-on learning with LEGO® technology. As they progress, students can participate in the FIRST® Tech Challenge, where they design, build, and program classroom-scale robots. The culmination of our program offerings is the FIRST® Robotics Competition, an intense and exciting challenge where high school students, with the guidance of professional mentors, design and build industrial-sized robots to compete in thrilling, sport-like events. We are incredibly proud of the impact we've had, reaching millions of students in over 110 countries since our inception. We provide a platform where students not only learn invaluable technical skills but also develop into well-rounded, resilient individuals who are ready to tackle the world's challenges.
