MACC Development is a faith-based, non-profit community development corporation dedicated to the holistic revitalization of Detroit's 48214 zip code. Founded in 2010 by members of Mack Avenue Community Church, the organization works block by block, neighbor by neighbor, to foster spiritual and physical transformation. Our vision is to see communities transformed, both spiritually and physically, starting with our own. This vision is pursued through a variety of programs and initiatives that have evolved in response to the community's ideas and needs. These include MACC Lit, an award-winning literacy program; MACC Sports, offering various athletic opportunities to youth; MACC Housing, assisting families with acquiring and renovating homes; and MACC Legal, providing legal counsel to neighborhood clients. A prominent project is The Commons, a mixed-use community space located at 7900 Mack Avenue, which houses a coffee bar, coin laundry, community meeting spaces, and MACC Development's offices. This project, like all our endeavors, was shaped by extensive community engagement, including door-knocking, canvassing, and community meetings to gather feedback and ensure the space met the actual needs and desires of residents. We are dedicated to working collaboratively with both businesses and residents to address the issues and needs of the community, fostering a place where people can experience dignity, value, purpose, and worth.
