Move For Hunger remote jobs and company guide
Move For Hunger is a national non-profit organization that mobilizes transportation networks to deliver surplus food to communities in need, rescuing food during moves and organizing food drives to fight hunger across North America.
About Move For Hunger
In 2009, Adam Lowy noticed something heartbreaking while working for his family's moving company in New Jersey: perfectly good food being thrown away every time a family moved. Customers left behind canned goods, pantry staples, and unopened non-perishables - often enough to stock an entire kitchen - all destined for the curb while millions of Americans faced food insecurity. This simple observation sparked a question that would change everything: "If one moving company could make this kind of impact, what could an entire network do?"
What started as one family business asking customers to donate their excess food has grown into a national movement. Move For Hunger now mobilizes over 1,200 moving companies and 2,900 apartment communities across all 50 states and Canada, transforming moving day into giving day. The organization has delivered more than 60 million pounds of food - the equivalent of 50 million meals - to food banks since its founding. Beyond rescuing food from moves, they coordinate food drives, recovery efforts from endurance events, gleaning programs, disaster relief, and backpack programs for students. By tapping into existing transportation networks, Move For Hunger created a sustainable solution that reduces waste while feeding neighbors in need, proving that fighting hunger can be as simple as connecting surplus to those who need it most.
