About Normal Computing

We are on a mission to make AI universally scalable and useful. At Normal Computing, we're rewriting the foundations of AI to push the frontier of reasoning and reliability in the real world. We were founded in 2022 by a team of engineers and scientists from Google Brain, Google X, and Palantir who were pioneers in developing industry-leading Physics + ML tools for the next generation of artificial intelligence. Our core belief is that the true potential of AI can only be unlocked when it can reliably and safely interact with and reason about the physical world. This is why we are developing full-stack solutions, from innovative hardware and physics-based approaches to advanced probabilistic software infrastructure and algorithms. This allows us to create AI that not only performs complex tasks but also understands its own limitations, a critical factor for adoption in high-stakes enterprise environments.

Our work tackles significant challenges in sectors like semiconductor manufacturing, supply chain management, banking, and government agencies, where risk has traditionally been a major barrier to AI adoption. We are building AI systems that can design and verify hardware logic from specifications alone, a crucial step in overcoming the silicon complexity crisis. Furthermore, we are pioneering 'thermodynamic computing,' a novel approach that widens the conventional design space and enables custom silicon to operate at the very energy limits of artificial reasoning. We've already developed the world's first thermodynamic computer, a breakthrough that promises to make AI more efficient and capable. We are a diverse and lean team of some of the world's best engineers, scientists, and operators, with a presence in New York City, San Francisco, London, and Copenhagen. We foster a culture of individual ownership and deep partnership, collaborating closely with the largest semiconductor design and manufacturing institutions to deliver our software and hardware. We are backed by significant seed capital from prominent investors who share our vision of securing silicon supremacy and providing a 1000x increase in intelligence per unit.
