What began in 2015 as the K–12 OER Collaborative, a 13-state initiative aimed at tackling quality deficiencies in the educational curriculum market, has blossomed into the non-profit organization now known as Open Up Resources. The core mission of Open Up Resources is to foster equity in education. They achieve this by developing and disseminating the highest quality full-course curricula, provided for free as Open Educational Resources (OER). Recognizing that curriculum alone isn't enough, they also provide essential implementation support, ranging from professional development to printing services. This holistic approach addresses a critical need, as districts often struggle with a lack of standards-aligned content despite significant annual spending on curricula. Open Up Resources collaborates with leading materials experts to create exceptional educational programs. Their offerings include highly-rated curricula such as Open Up Resources 6–8 Math, EL Education K–5 Language Arts, and Bookworms K–5 Reading and Writing, many of which have received top marks from independent reviewers like EdReports.org.
