About San Joaquin College of Law

San Joaquin College of Law (SJCL) was founded in 1969 by a visionary group of San Joaquin Valley judges and attorneys, including Dan Eymann, Oliver Wanger, and John Loomis. Recognizing a critical need for accessible legal education in the region, they established the college to provide opportunities for local residents who might otherwise be unable to pursue a legal career. What began as a modest endeavor on the campus of Fresno Pacific College has evolved into a cornerstone of the Central Valley's legal community.

Throughout its history, SJCL has remained committed to its mission of educating practical, practice-ready lawyers. In 1980, the college moved to a new facility on Shields Avenue, and in 1996, it relocated to its current, permanent home in the historic Clovis High School building. Today, San Joaquin College of Law is a private institution accredited by the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California. It offers a Juris Doctor (J.D.) program, including a remote option, and continues to produce a significant portion of the practicing attorneys in the San Joaquin Valley.
