We are Te Rōpū Taurima, the largest kaupapa Māori disability support service provider in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Since our establishment in 1999, we have been dedicated to supporting people of all ethnicities with intellectual impairments, ensuring they have the opportunity to live fulfilling and independent lives. Our journey began as a response to the need for a service environment that truly recognised and respected Te Ao me ngā Tikanga Māori (Māori world views, customs, and practices), moving away from institutionalised care models to a more inclusive, community-focused approach.

Our mission is to provide culturally inclusive, high-quality support that empowers our tāngata (the people we support) to exercise rangatiratanga (self-determination) over their own lives. We offer a comprehensive range of services, including residential and vocational support, respite care, and specialised support for high and complex needs. Guided by our values of whanaungatanga (engagement), tika (correctness), pono (honesty), and aroha (compassion), we work closely with whānau to create an environment where everyone can thrive.
