About Volunteers of America

At Volunteers of America, we are a national, nonprofit, faith-based organization dedicated to helping those in need live healthy, safe, and productive lives. Since our founding in 1896 by social reformers Ballington and Maud Booth, our ministry of service has supported and empowered America's most vulnerable groups. We are passionate about reaching and uplifting the American people, pledging to go wherever we are needed and do whatever comes to hand. Today, we are proud to say that our work touches the mind, body, heart, and ultimately the spirit of those we serve, integrating our deep compassion with highly effective programs and services.

Through hundreds of human service programs, including housing and healthcare, we help more than 1.5 million people in over 400 communities across 46 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico each year. We offer a variety of services for older Americans, veterans, at-risk youth, men and women returning from prison, homeless individuals and families, and those recovering from addictions. We are also one of the nation's largest nonprofit providers of quality affordable housing for families, the elderly, and people with disabilities, as well as a major provider of skilled long-term nursing care and health services.

Our dedicated team of over 16,000 mission-driven professionals works tirelessly to empower individuals and build thriving communities. We believe in treating every individual with the respect and dignity they deserve, focusing on addressing the specific needs of each person to help them overcome factors that might lead to homelessness or other crises. We are deeply committed to working together to create lasting solutions for the people we serve, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to live in the fullness of a healthy body, mind, and spirit. By building strong frameworks, enhancing risk management, and strategically aligning resources, we ensure the long-term sustainability needed to support our mission for generations to come.
