Job description

Principal Events Manager at Smartsheet

For over 20 years, Smartsheet has empowered teams to manage work seamlessly and scale solutions smarter. Now, in our most ambitious chapter yet, we are uniting human teams with AI agents. By orchestrating the work agents do best, automating manual tasks and uncovering insights at scale, we create the space for people to focus on what truly matters: judgment, creativity, and big thinking. That is magic at work, and it’s what we show up for every day.

We are searching for an experienced global events manager who thrives in evolving environments and is excited to help establish, scale, and mature demand-based event marketing capabilities. As a strategic contributor, you will help define success for the Global Demand Events Marketing team and contribute to the operating model, programs, and execution frameworks required to deliver predictable pipeline impact.

You will report to the Director of Demand Events, based in North America, and will balance global consistency with account-specific nuance while serving as a contributing voice for strategic motions in global planning and prioritization.

You Will

  • Lead end-to-end execution of a global portfolio of Tier 1 and Tier 2 third-party and proprietary events, translating global strategy into detailed plans, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Own planning and delivery of industry conferences, sponsorships, hosted experiences, and proprietary programs across regions, ensuring consistent, high-quality execution aligned to global standards.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product Marketing, Growth Marketing, Field Marketing, Content, Design, Sales, SDRs, and Marketing Operations to operationalize integrated event campaigns and ensure alignment with go-to-market priorities.
  • Drive event programs that generate measurable pipeline and customer engagement through meeting programs, lead capture, attendee journeys, and coordinated post-event follow-up.
  • Manage execution of global sponsorship programs, ensuring fulfillment of contractual deliverables including booths, staffing plans, capture frameworks, speaking engagements, customer events, and executive activations.
  • Oversee agencies and vendors responsible for production, logistics, shipping, and on-site delivery, ensuring seamless and on-brand event experiences.
  • Manage event budgets, forecasting, and spend tracking to deliver programs efficiently and within approved investment levels.
  • Lead project management across complex workstreams, driving alignment, accountability, and clear communication among stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain scalable processes, templates, and workflows that enable consistent global execution and improve operational efficiency.
  • • Provide day-to-day guidance and mentorship to event managers and coordinators, supporting prioritization, workload management, and professional development.
  • Partner with Marketing Operations to track performance, measure pipeline influence, and deliver post-event reporting and insights.
  • Continuously evaluate programs to improve attendee experience, operational rigor, and overall program effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned

You Have

  • 10+ years of B2B marketing experience, specifically in Tier 1 global industry events, Demand Generation, or Field Marketing with an enterprise focus.
  • Proven track record driving pipeline creation, acceleration, and revenue impact in high-growth environments.
  • Deep understanding of executive-level engagement and tailoring messaging for complex buying committees and large-scale deals.
  • Significant experience using Salesforce and Tableau to analyze pipeline health and provide executive reporting.
  • Exceptional ability to navigate ambiguity, lead cross-functional teams, and build processes from the ground up.
  • B2B SaaS experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
