Corporate Affairs Director

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will lead the development and execution of enterprise corporate marketing strategies that strengthen Amgen's brand, increase stakeholder engagement, and advance the company's reputation.

The Director will oversee corporate brand marketing, paid media, sponsorships, and strategic partnerships, serving as the subject matter expert for corporate marketing across Corporate Affairs. This leader will bring deep expertise in audience strategy, integrated marketing, campaign development, and measurement, applying modern marketing principles to elevate Amgen's visibility and influence among key stakeholders.

The successful candidate will partner closely with Corporate Affairs, Product Marketing, Digital, Media, Human Resources, and agency partners to develop data-driven programs that build brand equity, amplify corporate storytelling, and drive measurable outcomes. This role offers the opportunity to build and lead a new function, establish operating models and best practices, and recruit a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise brand marketing strategy and execution to drive awareness, engagement, and reputation.
  • Serve as SME to advise on audience, campaigns, channels, and optimization.
  • Partner cross-functionally to translate brand strategy into integrated, impactful programs.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance visibility, positioning, and audience engagement.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise business, communications, and reputation priorities.
  • Lead end-to-end paid media strategy across digital and emerging channels.
  • Develop audience segmentation and targeting to maximize effectiveness.
  • Deliver integrated campaigns across paid, owned, earned, and shared channels.
  • Establish measurement frameworks linking investments to business outcomes.
  • Evaluate emerging platforms, technologies, and approaches to improve performance.
  • Lead enterprise sponsorship and partnership strategy end-to-end.
  • Source, negotiate, and manage partnerships to strengthen brand visibility and reputation.
  • Develop integrated activation plans across channels.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise priorities and measurable value delivery.
  • Implement frameworks to assess performance and guide investments.
  • Partner with Product Marketing and Commercial teams to drive best practices and innovation.
  • Lead agencies and external partners to ensure strategic and creative excellence.
  • Build and develop high-performing teams.
  • Establish scalable operating models, processes, and governance.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 4 years of marketing, communications, or related experience

OR

Master's degree and 7 years of marketing, communications, or related experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 9 years of marketing, communications, or related experience

Preferred qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in brand marketing, integrated marketing, corporate marketing, sponsorships, media, or related disciplines.
  • Expertise in audience strategy, segmentation, omnichannel campaign development, paid media, and marketing measurement.
  • Experience developing and leading enterprise-level marketing campaigns that drive awareness, engagement, and reputation outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success managing sponsorship portfolios, strategic partnerships, or experiential marketing programs.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing platforms, analytics, marketing technologies, and emerging marketing trends.
  • Experience building teams, creating new capabilities, and leading through growth and organizational change.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and lead cross-functional initiatives across complex organizations.
  • Experience working within biotechnology, healthcare, life sciences, or other highly regulated industries preferred.
  • Agency experience or significant experience managing agency relationships preferred.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
