The Opportunity
Ensemble Health Partners is seeking a strategic and operationally focused Director, Client Coding Integrations to lead physician coding integration initiatives for new and existing healthcare clients. This role serves as a key partner between Coding Operations, Revenue Cycle, Client Services, Technology, Implementation, and operational leadership teams to ensure seamless coding transitions, operational readiness, compliance, and long-term success.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in professional fee (physician) coding , revenue cycle operations, coding compliance, provider education, and client relationship management. This leader will be responsible for guiding coding integration activities, supporting operational transformation, identifying process improvement opportunities, and ensuring coding best practices are consistently implemented across client engagements.
Key Responsibilities
Client Coding Integrations
- Lead coding integration activities for physician billing clients during onboarding, acquisitions, conversions, and operational transitions.
- Serve as the primary coding subject matter expert throughout implementation and transition efforts.
- Assess existing coding workflows, policies, processes, and operational structures to identify opportunities for improvement and standardization.
- Partner with operational leaders to develop post-integration action plans that support quality, productivity, compliance, and financial performance.
- Support organizational readiness activities including training, communication, workflow design, and stakeholder engagement.
Coding Operations & Compliance
- Provide expertise related to ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, modifier application, documentation requirements, and regulatory compliance standards.
- Collaborate with Compliance, Revenue Integrity, Provider Education, and Client Leadership to support coding accuracy and operational excellence.
- Monitor coding quality, productivity, audit findings, and operational performance metrics.
- Assist with the development and implementation of corrective action plans related to coding quality, documentation, and compliance concerns.
- Support internal and external audits while ensuring adherence to federal, state, payer, and regulatory requirements.
Revenue Cycle Optimization
- Analyze coding-related trends, denials, edits, and revenue cycle performance indicators to identify root causes and recommend solutions.
- Partner with Revenue Cycle teams to improve reimbursement accuracy, reduce denials, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Assist clients with coding workflow redesign, process improvements, and operational transformation initiatives.
- Support implementation of automation, reporting, and technology solutions that improve coding performance.
Relationship Management
- Build trusted partnerships with physicians, operational leaders, coding teams, compliance departments, and client stakeholders.
- Act as a strategic advisor regarding physician coding operations and regulatory requirements.
- Present operational updates, implementation progress, risks, and recommendations to leadership teams.
- Facilitate effective communication between internal and external stakeholders throughout implementation activities.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive healthcare coding, physician billing, revenue cycle, or health information management experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership, consulting, project management, or implementation experience.
- Extensive knowledge of:
- ICD-10-CM
- CPT
- HCPCS
- Evaluation & Management (E/M) coding
- Professional fee billing and reimbursement methodologies
- Experience supporting physician practice operations, professional coding programs, or multispecialty physician groups.
- Strong understanding of healthcare compliance, regulatory requirements, and payer guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects and influence stakeholders across multiple departments.
- Ability to travel up to 50% within the assigned state and client locations.
Required Certifications
Candidates must possess one or more active coding credentials
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder)
- CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
- CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-Based)
- RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician)
- RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator)
Preferred qualifications
- Experience supporting large-scale physician practice integrations, acquisitions, or implementation projects.
- Experience with Epic, Cerner, Meditech, Athena, eClinicalWorks, or other major healthcare platforms.
- Background in revenue integrity, coding compliance, auditing, provider education, or CDI.
- Experience managing client-facing healthcare operations.
- Knowledge of AI-enabled tools, coding automation technologies, Power BI, Copilot, or workflow optimization solutions.
- Experience supporting multi-state or national healthcare operations.
