Position Overview

Ocient is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to create documentation for the OcientAIQ™ Unified Data Platform. The subject matter will focus on loading data into the Ocient System. The ideal candidate for this role will not only create content. This person must be detail-oriented, organized, and inquisitive to ensure high-quality content is delivered on time in a fast-paced, collaborative, and roll-up-your-sleeves environment. The candidate appreciates the Oxford comma and strives for well-written, concise, and straightforward documentation.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with Ocient’s Director of Documentation and technical subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop written content that delights our customers. You are self-motivated, able to manage multiple projects across varying stages, leverage internal SMEs, and demonstrate a passion for working with highly technical engineers and product managers. You possess strong writing and presentation skills, thrive in a startup culture, are curious and eager to learn, and can adapt to the changing needs of Ocient’s Documentation team as we grow.

Responsibilities

  • Write technical documentation for the loading functionality of the Ocient System by partnering with internal SMEs to understand documentation requirements.
  • Manage internal writing timelines, review cycles, and SMEs to execute flawlessly and deliver high-quality content on time.
  • Anticipate and effectively mitigate problems; consistently communicate to stakeholders about updates on progress, process, and relevant delays or issues.
  • Work collaboratively and proactively with internal teams to communicate documentation requirements and ensure efficient development and delivery of documentation.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Math, and 6+ years of experience in the software industry.
  • Must have 3+ years of technical writing experience.
  • Experience in writing about technical topics for databases or data warehouses is required.
  • Foster a user-centric approach towards everything you write.
  • A proactive attitude and a willingness to roll up your sleeves to get the job done on time.
  • Must be a team player and a self-starter with strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse technical SMEs and draw from diverse skill sets.
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking ability.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Genuine excitement about fueling innovation with a future-forward technical product and a highly skilled team of industry experts.
  • Positive and problem-solving attitude when faced with challenging situations.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, with an eagle eye for detail.

An Exceptional Candidate Will Have

  • AI proficiency in the context of technical writing, agentic workflows, SQL, Markdown, docs-as-code, and creation of technical diagrams.
