Job description

Software Engineer I, Fullstack (Servicing International) at Affirm

At Affirm, we exist for the moments that matter—giving people a clear, predictable way to pay over time, with no hidden fees, no surprises, and no tradeoffs on what matters most.

The Engineering team builds systems that power Affirm’s mission. We take pride in our craft, building reliable, performant, and scalable solutions that touch every part of the business. Whether we’re enabling new ways to pay, ensuring our platforms can scale to the most demanding levels in the industry, or developing seamless servicing experiences, our focus is on solving complex problems through exceptional engineering.

Join the pioneering Servicing International team at the forefront of Affirm's global expansion, building the foundational platform to launch our products into a new generation of international markets. This role will focus on two critical parts of the user journey: purchase protection, including disputes and refunds, and agent tooling, which is essential for our agents to offer the best support possible to our customers—both significant areas of investment to ensure trust and satisfaction for our newest customers. The team collaborates closely with European engineering counterparts and engineers across our global Servicing Engineering organization to build cohesive, scalable solutions, and you'll play an active part in that. If you are passionate about creating world-class user experiences and excited by the challenge of launching products in new regions, join us. Help build the next generation of Affirm's platform and learn what it takes to define our presence around the world.

  • You will strike the right balance of speed and quality in your work, ensuring that we hit our business goals while protecting our systems from downtime.
  • You will contribute to a sense of community on your team by engaging in growth and development activities.
  • On-Call Rotation - There would be an on-call rotation for this role as a requirement.

What we look for

  • You have previous work or internship designing, developing and launching APIs at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
  • You have previous work or internship experience shipping web apps using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue.
  • You have mastered taking a simple problem or business scenario into a solution that interacts with multiple software components, and executing on it by writing clear, easily understood, well tested and extensible code.
  • You are comfortable navigating a large code base, debugging others' code, and providing feedback to other engineers through code reviews.
  • Your experience demonstrates that you take ownership of your growth, proactively seeking feedback from your team, your manager, and your stakeholders.
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills that support effective collaboration with our global engineering team.
