Job Description

Position Objective

As a Program Manager III in the Transplant Diagnostics division, you will play a pivotal role in managing projects that drive product development and on-market product improvements in alignment with business objectives. You will accomplish this by applying best practices and tools in program management with the goal of delivering high-quality research use only (RUO) and in vitro diagnostic (IVD) products to market within the agreed-upon scope, schedule, and resources. This includes ensuring design control, compliance with regulatory guidelines, and long-term product manufacturability. Through your work, you will contribute to improving the quality of life for individuals facing transplantation, while supporting Thermo Fisher Scientific’s mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional project core teams, conduct regular project meetings, capture action items, supervise assigned deliverables, develop and maintain project schedules, and provide updates and reports to senior leadership.
  • Work closely with R&D, Product Management, Manufacturing Sciences, and Manufacturing Operations, Quality, Regulatory, and other functional partners to develop high quality products that meet customer needs and regulatory guidelines. Collaborate with Finance and other business functions to develop project financial models and ensure positive return on investment.
  • Maintain clear communication lines across all teams and stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status and achievements to executives, while resolving barriers to execution and facilitating decision making to ensure timely completion.
  • Identify potential risks and issues, and develop effective mitigation strategies to maintain compliance, product quality, and project execution.
  • Identify and champion opportunities for improvement in day-to-day processes, operating mechanisms, and procedures.

Education and Experience

  • University degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree), preferably in life sciences or engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams without direct authority.
  • 4 years experience in developing life-science products under design control, using a standard stage-gate process from conceptualization to launch; medical device and clinical experience highly preferred.
  • Experience developing RUO and IVD assays, including clinical study performance, preferred.
  • PMP certification is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated excellence in project management, including timeline adherence, deliverable tracking, and proactive risk management. Capable of managing competing priorities while balancing business objectives, regulatory requirements, and customer needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across a matrixed organization and gain broad cross-functional alignment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills, capable of effectively articulating sophisticated concepts and ideas to broad audiences, including executives.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and proactive with the ability to be highly resourceful.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, which includes a drug screening.
