The Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry business develops and manufactures innovative instruments, consumables, and software solutions for customers working in analytical sciences and scientific research. We play a critical role in supporting pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical organizations through advanced LC-MS technologies, workflow optimization, and scientific expertise.
How will you make an impact
The Field Application Specialist (FAS) will provide advanced scientific and technical expertise to customers, sales teams, and internal partners within CMD (Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division), supporting LC-MS and HPLC solutions with a strong focus on Pharma and Biopharma applications.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise in LC-MS and HPLC instrumentation with direct hands-on experience in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical analytical workflows, including method development, troubleshooting, characterization, and operation within regulated laboratory environments. The role also requires a solid understanding of operational processes within structured pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical organizations, including quality standards, compliance expectations, and cross-functional collaboration.
What will you do
- Deliver advanced product and workflow training to customers virtually, remotely, onsite, or at Thermo Fisher Scientific training centers.
- Support customers in the implementation and optimization of LC-MS and HPLC solutions
- Act as a trusted scientific advisor for complex analytical challenges in regulated environments.
- Provide scientific and technical support for Pharma customers using LC-MS and HPLC workflows.
- Support method development, troubleshooting, data interpretation, and workflow optimization.
- Experience in Biopharma applications and biologics characterization is considered a strong plus.
- Deliver scientific presentations, workshops, and customer demonstrations highlighting LC-MS and HPLC solutions for Pharma and Biopharma applications.
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Service, Product Management, and Application teams to support customer success and strategic initiatives.
- Analyze experimental data and provide scientifically sound recommendations.
- Support customer escalations and provide high-level scientific problem-solving.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with LC-MS and/or HPLC instrumentation and workflows.
- Strong and demonstrated direct experience in Pharma and/or Biopharma analytical applications.
- Demonstrated experience in analytical method development, troubleshooting, optimization, and scientific data interpretation.
- Experience working within regulated laboratory environments, including GMP/GLP settings, is preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional and international environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and the local language.
- Customer-focused mindset with strong consultative and relationship-building capabilities.
- Experience in customer-facing scientific roles.
- Availability to travel up to 75%.
