At Roblox, we’re building the tools and platform that empower our community to bring any experience that they can imagine to life. Our vision is to reimagine the way people come together, from anywhere in the world, and on any device. We’re on a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility, and looking for amazing talent to help us get there.

A career at Roblox means you’ll be working to shape the future of human interaction, solving unique technical challenges at scale, and helping to create safer, more civil shared experiences for everyone.

As a Technical Developer Specialist, you will help troubleshoot and improve beta projects within the Roblox ecosystem. You will combine hands-on development expertise with technical problem-solving to identify issues, provide guidance, and help developers create better experiences.

You will test projects in beta, diagnose technical and development issues, and work with engineering and internal teams when problems require deeper investigation. You will also create and improve technical documentation, examples, and best practices to help developers better understand Roblox Studio, scripting, game mechanics, and other development tools.

This role is ideal for an experienced Roblox developer who enjoys solving technical problems, sharing knowledge, and helping others improve their development skills. As you grow in the role, you will expand your knowledge of new technologies and contribute to improving the overall developer experience across the Roblox platform.

You Will

  • Test projects in beta and identify potential issues or areas for improvement.
  • Help debug technical issues and identify potential solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance, documentation, examples, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with engineering and other internal teams when issues require deeper investigation.
  • Identify recurring questions or problems and help improve documentation, examples, and developer resources.
  • Learn new technologies and develop increasing familiarity with the Roblox ecosystem.

You have

  • Roblox Studio: Advanced proficiency with Roblox Studio, including core building tools, asset management, and game structure.
  • Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and resolve common Roblox Studio, building, and development issues.
  • Scripting & Mechanics: Strong proficiency in Lua/Luau scripting and implementing advanced game mechanics.
  • Specialized Skills: Expertise in areas such as 3D modeling, UI design, and other game development disciplines.
  • Experience: Typically 4+ years of active development on Roblox or similar interactive 3D platforms.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to break down complex technical concepts and ideas into simple, clear, and easy-to-understand explanations.
  • Reporting: able to clearly communicate progress, challenges, findings, and recommendations in a concise and easy-to-follow manner.
