Staff Threat Analyst, Ads Fraud at Reddit

Reddit is continuing to grow our teams with the best talent. This role is completely remote friendly within the United States. If you happen to live close to one of our physical office locations (San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City & Chicago) our doors are open for you to come into the office as often as you'd like.

As Reddit’s advertising ecosystem rapidly expands, protecting our platform, advertisers, and users from bad actors is paramount. We are seeking a Staff Threat Analyst to serve as the operational architect for Advertiser Fraud within Safety. You will have end-to-end ownership to establish the strategy, build foundational detection playbooks, and define enforcement frameworks.

You will work in tight partnership with cross-functional Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Ops teams across both Safety and Ads orgs to convert adversarial insights into scalable automated defenses. This is a 0-to-1 opportunity to shape our threat response frameworks, operational playbooks, and detection pipelines from scratch.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy & System Architecture: Formulate and execute a multi-quarter vision for advertiser fraud detection and enforcement; independently prioritize high-impact risks like account takeover (ATO), payment/billing fraud, cloaking, deceptive ads and network abuse.
  • Deep Analytics & Investigations: Conduct deep-dive investigations into complex, multi-entity fraud networks and sophisticated adversarial tactics. Drive root-cause analysis and map cluster infrastructure to prevent recurring abuse.
  • Product/XFN Delivery: Partner directly with Data Science and Engineering to translate investigative findings into high-precision detection logic, risk scores, and automated enforcement pipelines. Serve as the primary Safety SME interfacing with Ads Product, Ads Engineering, and Policy teams to align on shared risks. Synthesize complex adversarial dynamics into strategic guidance for senior leadership.
  • Playbook & Methodology Development: Design, document, and standardize operational playbooks, escalation frameworks, QA standards, and feedback loops for all investigative and enforcement pathways.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in threat intelligence, ad tech safety, trust & safety investigations, or platform integrity (focused on ad fraud, financial crime, ATO, or spam abuse).
  • Demonstrated 0-to-1 track record of operating in ambiguous environments to build threat response frameworks.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python or R, and big data environments to independently query petabyte-scale datasets and construct adversarial network graphs.
  • Experience using AI/LLMs as investigative copilots and partnering with ML teams to deploy LLM-based detection classifiers.
  • Deep functional expertise in digital ad ecosystems, ad serving infrastructure, and ad-specific fraud archetypes.

Preferred qualifications

  • Familiarity with global ad compliance, privacy regulations, and regulatory reporting standards.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive Healthcare Benefits and Income Replacement Programs
  • 401k with Employer Match
  • Global Benefit programs that fit your lifestyle, from workspace to professional development to caregiving support
  • Family Planning Support
  • Gender-Affirming Care
  • Mental Health & Coaching Benefits
  • Flexible Vacation & Paid Volunteer Time Off
  • Generous Paid Parental Leave
