Job description

Account Manager, California/Washington at Aledade

Healthcare is changing, and local medical practices are caught in the middle. They are trying to shift from a system that rewards the volume of procedures to one that rewards the quality of patient care—but navigating that shift is incredibly tough. That’s where you come in.

As our Account Manager, you will be the ultimate strategic partner, business coach, and advocate for the medical practices in your portfolio. You are the day-to-day anchor of these relationships, responsible for diving into the data, identifying performance gaps, and working hand-in-hand with doctors and healthcare executives. By helping them master Value-Based Care (VBC) contracts, you directly drive financial success (shared savings) and, most importantly, measurably better health outcomes for the community.

Note on Travel: On-site check-ins are key to this role. You can expect to travel in-person approximately 1x per month per account for 2–3 days (supporting accounts in Northern California and the Seattle, Washington area). Exact schedules flex based on client needs, meaning some months may feel lighter or heavier than others.

Location Requirement: This is a remote role, but candidates must be based on the West Coast (preferably within driving distance or short regional flight access to Northern California or the Seattle, WA area) to accommodate monthly client visits.

Primary Duties

Relationship Management

  • Develop and nurture lasting relationships and engagement with physicians, providers, and healthcare system executives to support and enhance financial and quality performance across performance metrics.

Performance Management

  • Own the account relationship across various domains, including financial performance and outlook, quality management, clinical management, population health, care management training, HEDIS and STARs performance, and operational enhancements.
  • Utilize data analytics tools to monitor and communicate practice performance against key objectives and strategic plans.
  • Develop project plans to ensure key organizational objectives are achieved.

Workflow and Staff Coaching

  • Work to assist in training office staff and physicians & providers (in coordination with Aledade's Value Based Care Curriculum) on processes and technologies. Provide continual assessment of practice's and staff's training needs.
  • Provide contract goals and current performance at the organizational, site, and/or provider levels to ensure aligned understanding of VBC contract goals and objectives. Communicate outcomes-oriented overviews of performance initiatives to convey organizational impact.

ACO Operations

  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to develop recurring executive-facing presentations and memos as needed.
  • This may include data regarding practice performance, financial outcomes/projections, and contract terms at the practice and ACO level to external executives.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Advise central leadership by proactively surfacing root causes of issues affecting practice performance.
  • Adapt to evolving organizational needs and priorities by taking on additional duties as necessary.

Minimum qualifications

  • 5 years of experience with executive level communication - written and verbal
  • Demonstrated knowledge of value based care contracts across all patient types
  • Minimum 6-8 years of experience with relevant competencies including practice management, project management, account management, analytical problem solving, and strategic insight using healthcare analytical skills.
  • Ability to travel for on-site partner visits, anticipated 1x per month for 2–3 days per account across Northern California and Seattle, Washington (subject to practice needs).

Preferred KSA's

  • Graduate of an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, health technology or information technology-related programs. 8 years of significant and relevant work experience in medical practice management in lieu of educational requirements may be accepted, particularly with significant administrative experience in a clinic setting.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, and team-building skills.
  • Familiarity with process mapping and work-flow analysis tools.
  • Advanced PowerPoint/slides, Excel/sheets, and other data visualization skills and willingness to learn additional software applications.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting for prolonged periods of time. Extensive use of computers and keyboard. Occasional walking and lifting may be required.
  • This is a remote position requiring the ability to complete approximately 20–25% annual regional travel for multi-day visits to partner sites across Northern California and the Seattle, WA area.
