Job description

Program Manager, Tooling and Integrations at Waymo

Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.

The Driver Understanding Software Quality & Experiences Operations team (DUSQE Ops) is at the heart of ensuring the safety, reliability, and quality of the Waymo Driver. Our mission is to build an adaptable and scalable operation, increasingly powered by AI, to deliver the crucial insights necessary to confidently deploy and grow Waymo's autonomous vehicle service.

Waymo is experiencing unprecedented growth, rapidly expanding into new cities and launching new vehicle platforms. DUSQE Ops is critical to this expansion, enabling us to scale safely and efficiently. The Integrations & Tooling team within DUSQE Central Ops owns integrations and launch management for new products, tooling and technologies and drives excellence in tooling and access management solutions for vendor-enabled operations at scale.

As a Tooling and Integrations Program Manager and Team Lead, you will be responsible for a portfolio of large strategic technical programs that span across multiple engineering and operational functions and drive transformative initiatives to accelerate launch velocity for new products and automation.

You will

  • Drive outcomes for large strategic technical programs in Product/Tech Integrations & Tooling Domains that span multiple organizations. Set up short/long term goals and priorities and drive delivery on projects and OKRs.
  • Drive excellence and transformative improvements in integrations, tooling health and access management processes and solutions through simplification, standardization, and automation. Build internal tools and dashboards to monitor programs health and efficiency.
  • Manage cross-project technical and operational dependencies and organizational launch review processes for major product, pipeline, and policy updates.
  • Drive technical decision-making by interpreting data and trade-offs to provide solutions that balance long-term vision with operational needs.
  • Act as the principal "go-to" authority and key link between engineering development and operational integration, proactively identifying solutions for complex operational challenges and risks.
  • Mentor a high-performing team of Technical Specialists and Program Managers, fostering a culture of "quality-first" in a high-velocity environment.

You have

  • Bachelor's degree in technical, or business discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of experience and proven ability to manage complex technical programs / tech-enabled operations, and work across cross-functional partners to drive outcomes.
  • 5+ years of people management experience.
  • Ability to translate operational constraints into technical requirements, quickly master new tools and technologies, and implement new concepts to resolve technical and operational roadblocks.
  • Proficiency in SQL and dashboarding (e.g., PLX/Looker), with the ability to navigate complex database schemas to inform decisions and drive automated reporting.
  • Ability to thrive in a high ambiguity, dynamic environment.

We prefer

  • Experience working with fast-paced emerging technologies. Experience in AV / AI / Data Operations is a plus.
  • Strong consulting and analytical skills; with ability to look at complex problems from multiple angles, be a thought leader and a systems thinker.
  • Experience establishing standardized governance, processes, and tools for PMO / Center of Excellence (CoE).
  • Increased competency in supporting all phases of the machine learning development lifecycle.
  • Experience with Lean / Six Sigma process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience working in a multi-geography environment and leading distributed teams.
