As a Product Manager, you will independently lead features and projects of moderate complexity that improve experiences for readers, journalists, and advertisers while driving business outcomes.

Why it matters: This role is central to shaping the future of Axios’ products. As a Product Manager, you will own initiatives from discovery to delivery, using data and user insights to guide decisions. You’ll collaborate with designers, engineers, and stakeholders across the company to define priorities, optimize user journeys, and launch impactful features.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will make an impact at Axios with the following responsibilities:

  • Independently manage features and quarterly priorities, from discovery through delivery.
  • Use data to inform decisions, track performance, and optimize conversion funnels and core user journeys.
  • Conduct user research and stakeholder interviews, translating insights into actionable requirements.
  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering, design, editorial, and revenue teams to align execution with business goals.
  • Communicate clearly across teams, adjusting messaging for different audiences.
  • Maintain high-quality standards, ensuring features are delivered with minimal oversight.
  • Mentor junior team members through reviews, feedback, and modeling best practices.
  • Actively support teammates through collaboration, pairing, and team rituals.
  • Apply AI tools independently to improve speed and quality of routine tasks, sharing prompts and workflows with peers.

Skills

Ideal candidates will embody an entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for Axios’ mission, and have the following skills:

  • 2–4 years of experience in product management or equivalent roles in technology, media, or SaaS.
  • Proven ability to independently manage features, projects, and quarterly priorities.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data to optimize user flows, funnels, and core product experiences.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to stakeholders at different levels.
  • Experience conducting user research and translating findings into product requirements.
  • Collaborative mindset with experience mentoring or supporting junior teammates.
  • Fluency with AI tools to accelerate work, and the ability to share effective use cases with peers.

What success looks like

  • Delivery of features and quarterly priorities that measurably improve user engagement and business performance.
  • High-quality execution with minimal oversight and strong cross-functional alignment.
  • Clear, audience-appropriate communication that builds trust with stakeholders and peers.
  • Positive mentorship impact on junior product team members.
  • Demonstrated use of data and research to shape product decisions.
  • Effective application of AI tools that improve speed, quality, and team efficiency.
