Clinical Risk Specialist at Talkspace

We are looking for an experienced Clinical Risk Specialist to join our Clinical Quality, Risk Management team. This role would be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating clinical risk. We are looking for someone who has experience providing Clinical Risk Management and wants to bring their talents to a “for purpose” space. To work at Talkspace, you need to be as passionate as we are about our work, and excited to partner with us on delivering quality mental healthcare.

*This is a remo te position with a typical schedule of Monday-Friday daytime hours; Eastern Timezone preferred, but some flexibility if able to attend meetings. Talkspace Headquarters is located in NYC but we do not require New York residence for this role.*

What you’ll do

  • Risk Monitoring & Response
  • Review and document adverse incidents, crisis alerts, higher level of care needs.
  • Apply clinical expertise to assess risk-related concerns.
  • Provide guidance and/or consultation to providers following a risk-related incident.
  • Facilitate debriefing and Psychological First Aid (PFA) following significant sentinel events, as assigned.
  • Escalate high-risk or complex concerns for leadership review.
  • Provider Support & Education
  • Offer consultation to providers on clinical risk management topics (e.g., documentation, ethical practice, safety planning, mandated reporting.)
  • Participate in provider onboarding, risk-focused learning communities, and other training initiatives.
  • Assist in developing clinical risk education materials.
  • Connect providers to appropriate support teams and resources when needed.
  • Quality Oversight & Improvement
  • Partner with Quality Management to investigate complaints and evaluate clinical quality.
  • Conduct audits and quality reviews.
  • Contribute information and findings that inform provider action plans and quality improvement processes.
  • Risk Data & Trends
  • Gather, organize, and maintain accurate risk-related data.
  • Track and report patterns or anomalies that may indicate emerging trends.
  • Summarize and contribute insight to inform leadership review and reporting.
  • Technology & Innovation
  • Utilize technology systems and tools that support clinical risk management workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay current on emerging tools that can strengthen risk monitoring.
  • Policy & Systems Development
  • Apply Clinical Risk Management SOPs, policies, and workflows consistently in daily work.
  • Provide feedback on policies, procedures, and systems based on experience.
  • Participate in testing and evaluation of processes or systems.
  • Support the communication of updates to providers, colleagues, and other teams/departments as needed.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Share information and coordinate with other clinical teams and other departments, as appropriate.
  • Participate in cross-team/departmental projects or initiatives related to safety and risk management.
  • Other Duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About You

  • Master’s degree from an accredited University/College in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, or related field.
  • Current independent, unrestricted clinical licensure (LCSW, LMHC, LPC, LMFT, Psychologist, or equivalent).
  • 3+ years of post-licensure experience as a mental health clinician
  • 2+ years of direct clinical experience delivering care as a telehealth practitioner.
  • Experience in clinical risk management and crisis intervention.
  • Familiarity with clinical quality expectations and ability to consistently apply ethical and clinical best practice standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Technologically proficient; Familiar with Google Workspace and able to learn new systems.

Preferred

  • Experience in delivering care in acute, crisis, or high-acuity settings (e.g., emergency department, inpatient, mobile crisis, IOP, PHP, residential)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage adverse incidents and risk-related workflows, including:
  • Reviewing, assessing, and documenting incidents accurately using clinical judgment.
  • Providing consultation and guidance to providers following risk-related concerns.
  • Coordinating higher level of care referrals.
  • Experience:
  • Completing clinical documentation audits and quality reviews.
  • Facilitating clinical training.

Strongly Preferred

  • 6+ Years of post-licensure clinical experience with demonstrated expertise in clinical risk and quality management.
  • Experience:
  • Providing clinical supervision, consultation, or mentorship to clinical peers.
  • Facilitating clinical risk-management training.
  • Contributing to clinical procedure and policy development/improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, organize, and maintain risk-related data to support analysis, reporting, and decision-making by leadership and stakeholders.

Compensation

At Talkspace, we believe that pay transparency during the interview process is a critical part of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our salary bands are based on internal and external compensation benchmarks, which we regularly evaluate to ensure we pay competitively.

The base salary range for this role is $75,000 - $82,000 per year. Within the salary bands, leveling corresponds to each candidate’s relevant experience, skills as assessed during the interview process, education, and applicable certifications.
