Job description

Content Designer II at Affirm

At Affirm, we exist for the moments that matter—giving people a clear, predictable way to pay over time, with no hidden fees, no surprises, and no tradeoffs on what matters most.

At Affirm, we’re reimagining how people access and experience financial products. Our commitment to clarity, honesty, and empathy fuels every design decision across all of our user experiences. We’re looking for a Content Designer II to help create clear, useful, trustworthy, and compelling product experiences that make it easier for people to understand and use Affirm.

About the team

In this role, you’ll work as an embedded partner on a product team, collaborating closely with Product Design, Research, Product Management, Engineering, Brand, Legal, Compliance, and Customer Experience. You’ll help design and improve product experiences from discovery through launch, experimentation, and optimization, with a focus on both thoughtful content strategy and precise UX writing.

You’ll bring strong writing skills, customer empathy, and product thinking to important product work. You’ll ask thoughtful questions, explain your rationale clearly, and advocate for simple, transparent experiences that help customers make informed decisions. You’ll use content strategy, systems thinking, and UX writing to help teams create experiences that are simple, transparent, and customer-centered.

You’ll also contribute to Affirm’s growing Content Design practice by sharing feedback, participating in team rituals, helping strengthen guidelines and patterns, and partnering with other content designers. This role is ideal for a collaborative, curious, and customer-oriented content designer who is ready to grow their craft while making meaningful contributions to product experiences.

What you’ll do

  • Contribute content design to product work, shaping user flows, information architecture, content hierarchy, UX writing, and customer communications across web and native app experiences.
  • Work cross-functionally with Product Design, Research, Product Management, Engineering, Brand, Legal, Compliance, and Customer Experience from early ideas through launch and optimization.
  • Help teams understand customer problems, identify content and usability opportunities, and make thoughtful decisions about how product experiences should work and communicate.
  • Write clear, accurate, concise, and human product content across in-product flows, notifications, emails, text messages, prototypes, and other customer touchpoints.
  • Use research, experimentation, customer feedback, and data to improve content decisions, usability, and customer understanding.
  • Participate in design sprints, critique, content reviews, and product discussions as an advocate for clarity, accessibility, and content-first design.
  • Help strengthen Affirm’s content design practice by contributing to style guides, writing guidelines, reusable patterns, team artifacts, and shared ways of working.

What We Look For

  • 2+ years of experience in content design, UX writing, content strategy, information architecture, or a related field, with experience designing for web and native digital products.
  • A portfolio that shows strong UX writing craft, strategic thinking, and shipped product experiences across in-app, web, or other customer touchpoints.
  • Strong understanding of UX writing, information architecture, content hierarchy, usability, accessibility, research, experimentation, and product development.
  • Ability to work independently on defined projects, navigate ambiguity with support, connect content decisions to customer needs and business goals, and move work forward with care.
  • Experience collaborating with PMs, designers, researchers, engineers, legal, compliance, marketing, or brand partners to shape clear and effective product experiences.
  • Clear communication skills, including the ability to explain rationale, invite feedback, build alignment, and advocate for the customer.
  • Nice to have: experience in financial services, regulated industries, native app experiences, design systems, lifecycle communications, or AI-enabled content workflows.
