Manager, Software Engineering (App Infrastructure) at Affirm

About the role

As the Engineering Manager for the App Infra team, you will own the app architecture, building blocks, and processes that make it easy for Affirm engineers to build user-facing features for our mobile apps with high velocity and quality.

What you’ll do

  • Define and drive the vision and roadmap for Mobile App Infrastructure Engineering at Affirm, focusing on app architecture, developer productivity, app reliability, performance, and industry best practices.
  • Lead and grow a team of senior engineers building a mobile app platform and tooling that empowers other Affirm engineers to ship reliable, performant, user-facing features with high velocity.
  • Build trust and drive alignment across engineering, product, design, and leadership on cross-team efforts.
  • Make hands-on technical contributions on a regular basis.

What We Look For

  • You have 5+ years of hands-on mobile app and web engineering experience, including 3+ years working with React Native and 3+ years managing and growing engineering teams.
  • You have transformed how mobile or web applications were built at a company.
  • You have built and delivered new consumer-facing mobile apps end to end.
  • You have scaled at least one mobile app to more than 1 million monthly active users.
  • You have a proven track record of building alignment and driving outcomes across teams in complex environments without direct authority.
  • You have the technical judgment required to guide architecture, quality, and reliability decisions.
  • You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance customer needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
  • You are a humble, team-first leader who builds a high-trust team culture.
  • You possess exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and organizational influence skills.
  • This position requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
