Job description

Associate Quality Analyst - Backend at Cotiviti

Overview

The Associate Quality Analyst supports production system quality and integrity through backend database testing, automated test development, and production incident triage. Working within Agile/Scrum environments, this role focuses on healthcare claims processing (headers, state variations, custom logic), ETL validation, and Oracle/SQL Server database testing. The Associate Quality Analyst collaborates with development and operations teams to identify defects, execute test scenarios, and validate data integrity in backend systems.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute SQL queries to validate backend system processing, data integrity, and business rule implementation.
  • Support ETL testing activities by executing predefined test scenarios and comparing source and target data using established procedures.
  • Perform database functionality testing activities to verify data accuracy following documented INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE test procedures.
  • Review assigned business and system requirements to understand testing objectives and expected results under guidance from experienced team members.
  • Create, adapt, and execute test cases for backend system functionality following established QA standards and documented procedures.
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using approved testing frameworks, reusable components, and established coding standards.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating test documentation, test cases, and test execution records.
  • Analyze application behavior, test results, and database output to identify software defects and processing inconsistencies.
  • Compile quality metrics and assist with identifying trends and issues requiring additional review.
  • Communicate testing progress, defects, and results to team members and immediate supervisors.
  • Use documented SQL queries, system logs, and troubleshooting procedures to analyze and investigate assigned defects.
  • Support production incident analysis by gathering information from system logs, database records, and applications under supervision.
  • Execute and maintain backend validation tests for application enhancements, system modifications, and production releases.
  • Provide feedback on testing processes and assist in identifying opportunities for process improvement.
  • Primary Duty Statement: The primary duty of this position is technical systems analysis, backend application testing, database analysis, ETL validation, and automated test development for computer applications and information systems. The position applies specialized technical knowledge to analyze system functionality, evaluate data processing results, investigate software defects, develop and maintain automated testing solutions, and validate application performance and data integrity. Administrative, reporting, and documentation activities are performed solely in support of these technical responsibilities and are not the principal purpose of the position.
  • Complete all responsibilities as outlined in the annual performance review and/or goal setting.
  • Complete all special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
