About The Team

This Legal team partners across every function at Life360 to provide client-focused legal services and advice that enable growth and efficiency for the Company’s consumer software and hardware business lines, as well as its new advertising initiatives. We collaborate closely with several teams, including Ads, Finance, Product, Privacy, Engineering, and Devices.

About the job

We are seeking a business-oriented Commercial Counsel Attorney with 5+ years of experience negotiating advertising and ad tech agreements to join our expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with teams across Life360 to support the growth of our advertising business alongside the Life360 family of consumer mobile software applications and hardware devices, including Tile and Pet GPS.

In this position, you will be responsible for commercial legal work enabling the entirety of Life360’s programmatic, direct and self-service advertising platform services. You will draft and negotiate supply side agreements, demand side agreements, advertising insertion orders (IOs) for managed campaigns, ad platform access agreements, data management platform agreements, and related procurement and marketing agreements necessary to enable the ads business. You will work closely with our Privacy and Product attorneys to ensure our commercial commitments comply with relevant laws. You will help build the templates, playbooks, and processes that let us close deals quickly while protecting the company and our members. The position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated advertising transactions, to shape how a high-growth consumer business approaches ad tech, and to learn alongside a collaborative legal team. You will report to the Deputy General Counsel for Commercial, Litigation & IP, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Ads, Finance, Product, Privacy, Engineering, and Marketing.

For candidates based in the US, the salary range for this position is $163,000 to $237,500 USD. We take into consideration an individual's background, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience in determining final salary. Base pay may also vary based on geographic location, with US work locations falling into one of three geographic tiers.

Total compensation is inclusive of equity compensation in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) , as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits.

What you’ll do

  • Draft, review, and negotiate supply-side agreements, including publisher agreements and related platform and partner terms.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate demand-side agreements, including DSP agreements and advertising insertion orders (IOs) with advertisers, agencies, and other ad partners, along with the master terms that govern them.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate content licensing agreements that support Life360’s advertising and monetization initiatives.
  • Negotiate data processing agreements (DPAs) and privacy and data use terms in advertising transactions, working within frameworks such as CCPA and GDPR.
  • Review and negotiate some procurement and marketing agreements.
  • Translate legal requirements into practical advice for Ads, Sales, and Ad Ops teams, and find solutions that move deals to close while managing risk.
  • Build and maintain templates, playbooks, and fallback positions for advertising agreements, and help improve intake and contracting workflows.
  • Partner with Privacy, Product, and Engineering to make sure advertising deal terms match how our products and data practices work.
  • Track developments in advertising and privacy law and industry standards (including IAB terms), and apply them to contract strategy and client counseling.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align legal recommendations with business objectives while protecting Life360 and our members.

What We’re Looking For

  • J.D. from an accredited US law school and membership in good standing in at least one state bar.
  • At least 5 years of relevant legal experience at a law firm and/or in-house at an advertising, ad tech, media, or technology company, with a strong focus on negotiating digital advertising agreements.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating publisher agreements, DSP and/or SSP agreements, advertising IOs, and content licensing agreements.
  • Experience working within privacy frameworks, including CCPA and GDPR, and experience negotiating DPAs.
  • Familiarity with the programmatic advertising ecosystem and IAB standard terms is a plus.
  • Ability to balance necessary legal protections with practical business needs, and to negotiate positively and close transactions efficiently.
  • Demonstrated interest in using AI-powered tools and leveraging technology to improve efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented and able to prioritize and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment.

Our Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance plans (100% paid for employees)
  • Paid parental leave
  • 401(k) plan with company matching program
  • Mental Wellness Program & Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for mental well-being
  • Generous time off: flexible PTO, companywide holidays throughout the year plus summer and winter shutdowns
  • Learning & Development programs
  • Equipment, tools, and reimbursement support for a productive remote environment
  • Free Life360 Platinum Membership and Tile trackers
