About the role
As an IT Specialist at Fabric Health, you will be the operational backbone of our internal technology systems. You join an established Infrastructure team, report to the VP of Infrastructure, and own the configuration, implementation, and automation of the internal systems that keep a fast-moving, fully remote healthcare company running.
This is not a break/fix role. You will work the ticket queue, but the measure of your work is how few tickets repeat. When the same request lands twice, you script it, document it, and move on to the next problem. You work under HIPAA every day and support SOC 2 audit preparation alongside the Security team, so access reviews and evidence collection are routine work. You also use AI tools such as Claude, Gemini, or GitHub Copilot to write scripts, troubleshoot faster, and draft runbooks, and you check what they produce before it touches a production system.
What you'll do
As our IT Specialist, your primary responsibilities include
Systems Administration & Device Management
- Configure, implement, and maintain internal SaaS platforms and productivity tools across a fully remote workforce.
- Administer identity and access management systems, including SSO, directory services, and role-based access controls.
- Manage the company device fleet through an MDM platform such as Jamf, Mosyle, Kandji, or Microsoft Intune, covering provisioning, compliance enforcement, and hardware support for remote employees.
Automation, Support & Documentation
- Build and maintain automated workflows for onboarding, offboarding, and access provisioning.
- Fix recurring IT pain points through scripting and tooling, not ticket by ticket.
- Use AI tools to speed up scripting, troubleshooting, and runbook writing, and review everything they produce before it reaches a production system.
- Own the internal IT ticket queue, triaging and resolving requests across the company.
- Maintain IT documentation and runbooks, and keep them current as systems evolve.
Compliance & Security
- Keep IT systems and practices fully compliant with HIPAA requirements.
- Support SOC 2 audit preparation, evidence collection, and regular access reviews in partnership with the Security team.
Why You Might Be a Good Fit
- You think in systems and workflows, not tickets. When you solve a recurring problem, your first instinct is to automate it so it does not come back.
- You are comfortable supporting a fully distributed team without physical access to the people or hardware you support.
- You take HIPAA compliance seriously and understand why it matters in a healthcare environment.
- You can balance proactive improvements with reactive support without dropping either.
- You take ownership of a problem from start to finish, including the documentation.
This Might Not Be The Right Fit If...
- You prefer a traditional break/fix IT environment over building and improving systems.
- You treat scripting and automation as optional rather than a natural part of how you work.
- You need to be physically co-located with the people or hardware you support.
- You are not comfortable working in a regulated environment with real compliance requirements.
Your Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in IT administration or systems administration in a SaaS or technology company.
- Hands-on experience with identity and access management platforms such as Okta, Google Workspace, or similar.
- Experience managing a device fleet through an MDM platform such as Jamf, Rippling, Kandji, or Microsoft Intune.
- Proficiency with IT ticketing systems such as Jira, Zendesk, Freshservice, ServiceNow, or similar.
- Scripting or automation experience in Python, Bash, or a comparable language.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA compliance requirements as they apply to IT systems and practices.
- Experience supporting a fully remote workforce.
- Day-to-day use of AI tools such as Claude, Gemini, or GitHub Copilot to write and troubleshoot scripts and documentation, with sound judgment about which data never goes into them.
Bonus Points
- Prior experience in a healthcare or HIPAA-regulated SaaS environment.
- Google Workspace administration experience.
- Familiarity with AWS or cloud infrastructure fundamentals.
- SOC 2 audit support or evidence-gathering experience.
