About the role

We're building the next chapter: an agentic platform that understands operational context and takes action, with the ambition to make physical operations increasingly autonomous. External Platform EMEA owns critical capabilities behind that transition. Depending on the team, your work could include:

• Reporting and intelligence. Own the reporting engine and products that turn the complexity of a fleet into answers customers can act on.
• Enterprise administration. Build how customers configure and control Samsara at scale, from permissions and device metadata to AI-assisted onboarding.
• Developer and agent platform. Build APIs, event systems, integrations, and tools that give applications and AI agents access to operational data and actions.
• Business-critical infrastructure. Own billing, license assignment, and usage metering: systems central to how Samsara sells, delivers, and grows its products.

The long-term opportunity is rooted in the physical world. Deployed hardware, data generated at the edge, and years of operational expertise form a foundation that's hard to replicate. As AI advances, it expands what we can build on that foundation. This is a place to develop deep engineering expertise while helping shape a platform with years of ambitious work ahead.

AI is also central to how we build. We expect engineers to push tools like Codex, Claude Code, and Cursor throughout design, implementation, testing, and production investigations, taking on more ambitious work while owning the quality of what they ship.

In this role, you will

• Solve complex problems and own the success of your solutions as you architect, build, test, and deliver full-stack products.
• Communicate, collaborate, and develop with engineers, platform/infrastructure teams, product managers, designers, and support teams.
• Build upon skills and knowledge across a range of technologies, such as Go, GraphQL, Typescript, React, and MySQL.
• Previous experience with these technologies is not required.
• Own the operational health of production systems as we build for the future scale of an ever-growing library of media assets.
• Make an impact on our core architecture, roadmap, and the wider engineering community.
• Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.

Minimum requirements for the role

• Strong fundamentals in programming, data structures, algorithms, and debugging, developed through a computer science degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience building working software through projects, internships, open-source contributions, or professional work. You can explain your code and the choices behind it.
• An AI-native approach to engineering : you already use coding agents and assistants to learn, build, test, and debug, and can critically evaluate their output.
• Evidence that you learn quickly, act on feedback, and take increasing ownership of well-defined problems.
• Clear communication and a collaborative approach, including knowing when to investigate independently and when to ask for help.

An ideal candidate also has

• Profound knowledge in full-stack software engineering, specifically in building scalable applications for media processing and streaming.
• Expertise in using backend and frontend technologies to build seamless, high-performance media applications.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills for effective teamwork and project collaboration.
• Enthusiastic and committed to innovating in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment.
• Experience in any one of these areas is a plus. Exposure can come from production work, internships, open-source contributions, or personal projects:
• Reporting and data systems: Reporting products, analytics, query execution, data retrieval, or turning complex datasets into useful customer experiences.
• Enterprise administration: Permissions and access control, entity metadata, configuration frameworks, or customer onboarding and setup automation.
• Developer and agent platforms: Public APIs, event-driven systems, integrations, Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, or tools that let AI agents access data and take action.
• Billing and monetization: Billing systems, license assignment, product entitlements, or usage metering supporting how a business sells and delivers its products.
• Full-stack product development: Building complete customer experiences across frontend interfaces, backend services, and data models.
